Before the move
How we plan a Vermont load
Every Vermont move starts with a single trip permit from the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles, part of the Vermont Agency of Transportation, filed through VT Haul Pass. Our permitting team checks the size, weight and route against the Vermont permit rules, then sets the escorts and travel windows the permit calls for.
Vermont oversize moves run from half an hour before sunrise to half an hour after sunset. Loads over 108,000 lbs, over 12'W or over 100'L do not move on state highways on Saturdays, Sundays or the six listed holidays. At 12'W or more, 80'L or more, or with 15' or more of overhang, an escort runs with the load.
At 150,000 lbs or more, 15'W or more, over 100'L or over 14'H, the move needs an engineering inspection of the route and its structures, which can take up to ten working days. Our 22 axle setups carry loads up to 300,000 lbs.
