One for the record books
The switchgear building itself was 65 feet long, 17 feet wide and 15 feet high, and it weighed 110,000 lbs. Once it was loaded, the whole move stretched 185 feet from end to end, stood 17 feet high and weighed 250,000 lbs gross.
A load that long and that tall does not fit every road. Tight turns set the pace of the trip, which is why delivery took a month. Route surveys and extensive bridge studies came first, and multiple county and state approvals were in place before the building moved.

Our team surveyed the route and ran extensive bridge studies, then secured multiple county and state approvals for the move.

The building needed 65 feet of well space. Our trailer offers up to 75 feet, so the load fit easily, and the weight was legal on the axles going into California.
Built for tight turns
Rear steerable dollies and the rotating tower let the truck make the tightest turns on the route.
A clear road
About a dozen state troopers worked the move alongside our specialized escorts and bucket trucks. Oncoming lanes were taken and traffic lights were cleared so the building could pass.
Delivered in Los Angeles
After a month of careful travel, the switchgear building arrived in Los Angeles, CA, safe and sound.
