The challenge
Getting the permit approved
The hardest part of this move was getting the permit approved. The engine weighed 220,000 lbs, and the move came to 320,000 lbs gross. The Governor of Missouri approved 27,000 lbs per axle, and that approval made the move possible, because the customer was on a time crunch.
Without that approval, we would have needed our THP Goldhofer, which meant longer permitting and a later delivery.

A two week load plan
The load plan took 2 weeks to work out before the engine moved.
The right trailer
We hauled it on our 100 ton Trail King, rated in 10 ft of space, which performed amazingly on this move.
Permit and route
Our in house permitting team worked the permit through to approval, and a route survey checked the way.
Escorts and support
Escorts, police and a bucket truck ran with the load.
One crane at each end
At both sites, a single massive crane loaded and offloaded the engine.
