The challenge
Tall, heavy and through town after town
At 165 feet long, 17 feet high and 300,000 lbs gross, this move pushed us through numerous towns and cities where narrow roads, tight turns and limited clearances demanded constant attention and precise execution.
Kentucky's rules shaped the plan from the start. On a two lane road, a load longer than 120 feet needs one front and two rear escorts. A load taller than 14 ft 11 in needs a front escort with a height pole, and anything taller than 15 ft 6 in needs a route survey before the permit is issued.

How we did it
Every department, step by step
Workable routes
Our in house permitting team worked overtime to develop workable routes, backed by route surveys.
Load placement
Our engineering and field crews worked from engineering drawings that helped finalize proper load placement and trailer configuration.
Clearance along the route
Our bucket truck crews and service trucks lifted cables and trimmed trees along the route, and a high pole checked clearances, so the drum could pass safely.
Police and escorts
Local police departments along the Kentucky to Virginia corridor controlled traffic and blocked roads, working alongside our escorts.
A crew of 15
15 people worked the move, and the transport itself took under two weeks.

In Richmond, the customer's rigging and crane crew offloaded the drum.

A major milestone for our team
This move marked a major milestone for our team. The transport was completed in under two weeks, putting every department and partner to the test.
Running from Kentucky to Virginia, this route pushed us through numerous towns and cities where narrow roads, tight turns and limited clearances demanded constant attention and precise execution.
Huge credit goes to our in house permitting team for working overtime to develop workable routes, and to our engineering and field crews for executing every detail step by step. This move also would not have been possible without our bucket truck crews, service trucks, and the extensive work required to lift cables and trim trees along the route to safely maintain clearance.

With the height and weight challenges involved, this project required planning, coordination, and teamwork at every level. We are proud to close out 2025 with a successful delivery like this. Projects of this scale represent the next milestone in our heavy haul journey and show the progression of our team as we continue stepping into more complex and demanding moves.
