Before the move
How we plan a Delaware load
Every Delaware move starts with a DelDOT hauling permit, filed through the DelDOT online permit system. Our permitting team checks the size, weight and route against the Delaware rules in 2 DE Admin. Code 2405, then sets the escorts and travel windows the permit calls for.
Delaware lets permitted loads run seven days a week from sunrise to sunset, but never on the seven listed holidays. Over 13'W one escort runs with the load, over 14'W there are two, and over 15'W a Delaware State Police escort joins them. We book the State Police escort at least 48 hours ahead.
Over 120,000 lbs, DelDOT treats the load as a superload, and two escorts run with it, one in front and one behind. Superloads also start at 15'W, 15'H or 120'L. Our 22 axle setups carry loads up to 300,000 lbs.
