Heavy Haul Trucking in Canada

Reliable Transport LLC plans heavy haul and superload moves from the USA into Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario and Quebec, with the provincial permits, the routing and the border paperwork handled by our own team.

This page is general information only, not legal advice and not a permit. Rules change often and each province's permit and official rules are the final word. Always confirm limits, escorts, routes and travel times with the provincial permit office before moving a load. Reliable Transport LLC is not responsible for decisions made using this information.

Reliable Transport LLC

One carrier from the USA side to the Canadian job site

We are USDOT 3906954 and MC 1441035. We haul single pieces from 70,000 up to 300,000 lbs on 8 to 22 axle setups. A load headed north crosses two sets of rules: the states on the USA leg and the province at the other end. Our in house permitting team files for both, and our own escorts and utility bucket trucks run with the load.

Questions

Canada heavy haul questions

Do you haul heavy loads into Canada?

Yes. We haul oversize and overweight loads from 70,000 up to 300,000 lbs across the USA and Canada, and our Canada pages cover Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario and Quebec. We are based at 7660 W Third St in Dayton, OH 45417.

Is there one Canadian oversize permit?

No. Each province issues its own permit for its own highways. In Ontario, the provincial permit covers the King's highways only, and municipal roads need the municipality's own permission.

What are the legal size limits in these provinces?

Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario and Quebec all use 2.6 m (8'6") for legal width and 4.15 m (13'7") for legal height. Anything bigger needs a provincial permit.

What does a cross border load need at the border?

The carrier sends the eManifest to the Canada Border Services Agency at least one hour before the truck reaches the border.

Where are the rules for each province?

Each province has its own heavy haul page and its own permit rules page, linked on this page. The permit rules pages list every official source we used.

How heavy a load can you haul?

Our superload service handles loads up to 300,000 lbs, with permits, routing and escorts by our own team.
