The Ohio superload line

Past 120,000 lbs gross

In Ohio, a load over 120,000 lbs gross is a superload, and the ODOT permit fee adds a charge for every ton over 60 tons on every mile. Our Akron transformer move ran at 240,000 lbs gross, twice that line. Every superload needs a permit, a route review and often escorts and utility crews. That is the work we are built for, from our home base in Dayton.

How we move an Ohio superload

Four steps, one team

Permitting, routing, escorts, utility bucket trucks, maintenance and drivers are in house.

Crew and a truck crane loading a large industrial load behind our blue Peterbilt unit 202
Step 01

ODOT permit and routing

Our in house team files the ODOT permit and every other state and province on the route, and every route is reviewed turn by turn with the driver before the move.

Step 02

Engineered load plan

Load plans are engineered with industry engineering partners and trailer manufacturers, then matched to the right setup from our fleet.

Step 03

Escorts and utility

Our own escort vehicles and utility bucket trucks run with the load, lifting lines and clearing the way. On our Akron move, the Ohio State Highway Patrol helped us take wider turns.

Step 04

Delivery

Live GPS Samsara tracking and a dash cam on every truck, with a live share link on request, so your site team knows where the load is until it is set down.
