Central Ohio heavy haul notes

Each local fact is linked to its source and confirmed by a second one.

  1. Our Obetz transformer

A 160,000 lb power transformer, delivered to Obetz in December 2024. That piece alone weighed twice the 80,000 lb gross limit for a whole truck on the Interstate system. (Our Obetz move, 23 CFR 658.17)

  2. Ohio permit office

ODOT issues special hauling permits through the Ohio Hauling Permits System, and its permit office is at 1980 West Broad Street in Columbus. (Ohio Hauling Permits System, Ohio Administrative Code 5501:2 1 02)

  3. New Albany superloads

Starting in 2024, nearly two dozen superloads moved from an Ohio River dock near Manchester to the Intel site in New Albany, with stops at Rickenbacker and Pataskala. The four largest weighed about 916,000 lbs and measured about 23'H, 20'W and 280'L, and signs, signals and utility lines on the route were adjusted for them. (ODOT bulletin, second of four extra large loads, ODOT bulletin, last of four extra large loads)
